Send summer off with one last goodbye at the 8th annual Coveskipper Aquathlon at La Jolla Shores, and cap your 2018 season in style. Every end is a new beginning, though, and Coveskipper is also proud to kick off a new collegiate triathlon season as part of the 2018-2019’s WCCTC race fall schedule.

Fall brings a lot of excitement and new triathletes on college campuses all over, so we aim to make Coveskipper a fun and friendly (and cheap!) introduction to multisport racing. Nearly all of UCSD Triathlon’s new members will be competing, and we hope to get some good representation again from UCLA, SDSU, USC, and CSU Long Beach. Our course (see the full map) consists of a 750 meter ocean swim, followed by a 5 kilometer run on the sand. For those non-swimmers, we are concurrently hosting a 5K run, and our younger athletes (under 18), can alternatively choose to race a half-aquathlon (375m swim, 5K run). We’ll have some great prizes, and great athletes to compete for them, but it will be a low-pressure, beginner-friendly race overall. After the race, we encourage you to stick around! We’ll fire up a couple grills, and you can have a chance to meet the folks you’ll be racing with all season long at the official Coveskipper BBQ.
Race Schedule:
- 9:00AM – Registration/Check-in open
- 10:00AM – 5K
- 10:15AM – Registration/Check-in closes
- 10:30AM – Aquathlon and Half-aquathlon
As always, our race will be USAT sanctioned, and we will have San Diego lifeguards standing by to make sure you have a safe and enjoyable experience.
